Italics get used to express important semantic meaning, so unicode should support them

That's the spirit!

The topic of italics in Unicode was last discussed extensively on this 
list in January of 2019, bleeding into February.

As Adam Borowski points out, enough people are using the math 
alphanumerics that we have a 𝑑𝑒 𝑓𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑜 method.
