While the circumstances mentioned in this thread are trying, the
framing of this as something that could conceivably be fixed and
then we can all stop thinking about it is false.

Even if travel budgets resume, and even if visas become easier to
obtain, (at least as easy to obtain as they were before COVID-19,)
the Consortium should consider remote/hybrid participation in all
future conferences and meetings of technical bodies as a mandatory
part of the planning of one.

Simply put, some contributors have disabling conditions which are
likely to impede the ability to travel. One of the contributors
I'm thinking of (besides myself) is also moving out of the
      California region.

Physical accessibility to events should not be sacrificed, but it
is the case that there are some for whom attendance cannot be made
accessible even with reasonable accommodations. To speak for
myself, it is unpredictable when I will be in one category or
another, due to osteogenesis imperfecta being a bone disease, I
could have more or fewer broken bones impeding the ability to
travel at some times but not others.

Now that COVID has forced us to adapt to hybrid meetings, we
should not lose the progress made on the accessibility front.
