Ah.  A key detail! I would not think that it would make sense to add this, as folks will be fatally confused by it. Same as putting slashes (back/forward) in filenames. Just Don’t Do It.

 

Besides, any sane normalization would converge them anyway, right? And then people have a filename they can’t use even if they copy/paste!

It isn't allowed in file names because it serves as a wildcard. The same for the asterisk.
