Can you elaborate on this please?

If this were done in Unicode, would that be something like having a 
"quasi-control character" encoded in Unicode to mean "Please use a 
Venetian-style font until further notice" or something like that?

Or would it be more like having a "quasi-control character" encoded in 
Unicode to mean "Please use 72 point until further notice"?

Or does it mean something else?
