Powerline symbols?

You mean Font Awesome? They're used in (mostly web) UIs as icons, not as
part of text (like Dingbats/Wingdings/Webdings are) or in a terminal (like
Box Drawing/Symbols for Legacy Computing/Powerline symbols are). That's an
important distinction.
