Corel X6? and above supports Unicode ,No extra changes required to enter Unicode Character. Based on your requirement you can use this link to use IME. Refer Link : http://www.ildc.in/download/UnicodeTypingTool.zip If you are using Microsoft default IN SCRIPT Keyboard to type on Corel X6 and above then it will type in Hindi numeral only in NIRMALA UI. Regarding Search in Corel here is steps . Since I have corel X6 hence can explain on this version . 1) Go to Text Menu 2) Select Edit Text 3) In edit text Dialog box press Text Option button . 4) Select Option for Find and Replace . 5) Now enter the Hindi Numeral to replace and its corresponding English numeral to place. I doubt that CorelDraw is handling this; more likely your operating system is providing a keyboard handler for Hindi. And it is almost certainly outputting Unicode characters. In order for people to help, you need to say what operating system you're using (Windows 7, Windows 10, some version of Linux, some version of iOS), and what keyboard you have set up in the OS. To find the keyboard in Windows, you would do something like opening the control panel (older versions of Windows) or the Settings panel (newer versions of Windows), and go to the keyboard setting. While you're there, you might see if the keyboard program has a setting for outputting ASCII numerals rather than Devanagari ones, which would solve your problem. If not--or if you're using some other OS--then you could come back here with that additional information. There is not any question of IME There is a similar feature in Adobe InDesign to use 'native numerals' ? and also localised punctuation style ? based on script and language selection, but this can be turned off in Preferences. Check to see whether there is a way to disable this in Coreldraw's preference settings. If not, I think you will need to contact Corel regarding this, and request that they make this auto-conversion optional. Those were proposals at the time they were written, but if you check the current Standard you'll find that U+1CEC is present in UnicodeData.txt: 1CEC;VEDIC SIGN ANUSVARA VAMAGOMUKHA WITH TAIL;Lo;0;L;;;;;N;;;;; According to DerivedAge.txt, it looks like it's been in the Standard since v5.2. So there's no question what codepoint to use. I guess your main issue may be finding fonts that support it. I understand that both of them are still proposals, and that means the codepoint can in theory change by the time it hits the standard. What's a recommended best practice for users until then? They *were* proposals, they were accepted. I believe the 2008 one builds on the 2007 one and refers to it. The code points are in unicode now. -Manish On Mon, Jan 13, 2020 at 4:59 PM ???? ????? I was looking at the wrong charts, namely, Devanagari and Devanagari extended (which I discovered less than 24 hours ago), but didn't realise that Vedic Extensions was a completely different chart. The first two characters (1C) should have given me a hint! Thank you. I can worry about the font once my document is near completion :) ???? > So there's no question what codepoint to use. In-Reply-To: References: <87419BFA-AD6E-450C-9B1D-8F82361240AF@gmail.com> Message-ID: As I recall, there is an open question regarding what character should be used to encode the dot above ??? 1CEC??? VEDIC SIGN ANUSVARA VAMAGOMUKHA WITH TAIL In a Devanagari font, it will seem intuitive to use ??? 0902??? DEVANAGARI SIGN ANUSVARA but the Vedic sign is used with other scripts too, so perhaps some generic combining dot character would be more appropriate? I think this question has not been officially resolved yet.
