Details of the proposal and instructions for providing feedback can be found on the PRI #434 page: https://www.unicode.org/review/pri434/ Regards, From leopold.tal.dg at gmail.com Wed Nov 3 08:00:38 2021 From: leopold.tal.dg at gmail.com (Leopold Tal) Date: Wed, 3 Nov 2021 14:00:38 +0100 Subject: Representing French names under PRI #434 Message-ID: Hi all, First, I'm excited to hear about the Person Name Formatting proposal! Thanks to Mark Davis & co for their hard work. In France, a person has one or more given names[1], which may contain spaces[2] and are separated by commas[3]. A person might thus have given names "Sophie", "Marie Lou", and "Anne Lise", and surname "Example". This person would expect to see her full name formatted as "Sophie, Marie Lou, Anne Lise EXAMPLE" in a fr_FR legal document, and as "Sophie Marie Lou Anne Lise EXAMPLE" in an en_US one. Under the 2021-11-01 version, middleName is a single field and must insert the commas or spaces itself, instead of leaving the choice up to the namePattern. "S'il y a un pr?nom compos?, il doit indiquer s'il souhaite s?parer les pr?noms par un tiret ou par un simple espace."
